Jessy Elfstrom is originally from Lebanon, NH, and went to Dartmouth College, majoring in Latin American, Latino, and Caribbean Studies, with minors in Portuguese and Government. During her studies at Dartmouth, she was fortunate to spend three trimesters in Brazil, where she cultivated a passion for language learning and a curiosity in international affairs. Following college, Jessy joined the U.S. Navy, and has been serving as an intelligence officer for the past 15 years. In the Navy, she deployed several times, both on an aircraft carrier and with an expeditionary strike group, and she served tours in Japan, Bahrain, Florida, Virginia, California, and Mexico. Jessy earned a Master of Arts in Philosophy while in Mexico from the Universidad Panamericana, where she had to write and defend her thesis in Spanish. She also has an Associate Degree in the Spanish Language, which she completed at the Defense Language Institute before living in Mexico. She is excited to share her enthusiasm for Latin America and Spanish with the students at Crossroads Academy, and finds it very fulfilling to have the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to this amazing community of the Upper Valley, to which she is so thrilled to come back home.
