8 9 Incredible 14 Crossroads Academy ERB Performance versus National Norms About 80 percent of Crossroads students score the equivalent of proficient with distinction on the NECAP. Stanines are often used in education statistics as an intuitive way of rendering performance relative to a comparison group. The bottom cutoffs of the 2nd through 9th stanines are 4th 11th 23rd 40th 60th 77th 89th and 96th percentiles respectively. Data are from ERB CTP-4 tests given in May 2013-2015. About 25 20 and 15 percent of New Hampshire students score proficient with distinction on the New England Common Assessment Program NECAP exams for math reading and writing respectively. Adjusting for the stronger than average performance of NH students the cutoff for proficient with distinction is approximately the bottom middle and top of the 7th National Norms stanine for math reading and writing respectively.
