Jake Reder Lower School parent 1 Incredible Crossroads Academys curriculum integrates Core Knowledge and Core Virtues. Core Knowledge is a body of solid shared specific and sequenced knowledge most essential for literacy in contemporary American society. Solid content in history literature geography mathematics and science promotes cultural literacy and provides rich opportunities to develop skills in reading writing speaking and critical thinking. Core Virtues are those traits of character that define human moral goodness. Our approach is centered upon the four cardinal virtues of justice wisdom courage and temperance. These two strands combine to create an ethos of perseverance academic strength self-reflection and moral courage. As they master content and practice virtue students gain over time an appreciation of who they are and who they aspire to be. We love Crossroads because the curriculum addresses the whole child. There is a body of knowledge the students should possess when they leave and there is a person theyre meant to be compassionate aware of the world around them able to lead when capable and follow when necessary. Community 8 9 Incredible 14 Crossroads Academy ERB Performance versus National Norms About 80 percent of Crossroads students score the equivalent of proficient with distinction on the NECAP. Stanines are often used in education statistics as an intuitive way of rendering performance relative to a comparison group. The bottom cutoffs of the 2nd through 9th stanines are 4th 11th 23rd 40th 60th 77th 89th and 96th percentiles respectively. Data are from ERB CTP-4 tests given in May 2013-2015. About 25 20 and 15 percent of New Hampshire students score proficient with distinction on the New England Common Assessment Program NECAP exams for math reading and writing respectively. Adjusting for the stronger than average performance of NH students the cutoff for proficient with distinction is approximately the bottom middle and top of the 7th National Norms stanine for math reading and writing respectively. Crossroads attracts many of the most academically oriented students in the Upper Valley and once at Crossroads they perform even better.
