Important Crossroads Academy Campus Notice

For the health and safety of Crossroads faculty and staff who are working hard to maintain our facilities and provide distance learning opportunities for our students, we ask that all students and parents do not come to campus without prior permission from the school’s administration. Should you require school materials, contact your teacher(s) and we will make arrangements for these materials to be picked up in a designated location. Thank you for your cooperation.
Head's Note

Throughout this crisis, it has been inspiring to see the power and caring of our school’s community play out in so many significant ways: through our faculty, who are developing new curriculum and pedagogy to connect with students and maintain their learning; through our resilient students who learning the skills necessary for successful distance learning; and through our parents who are supporting this process, and many others in our community who are also health professionals keeping people informed and saving lives.

This is the best of Crossroads, and I know there is more to come. When I first arrived at our school in 2015, I realized quickly that this is a very special place. I’ve seen these qualities so clearly in the past few weeks, as teachers, students, parents, grandparents, and friends have come together to comfort each other, support one another, and help us all stay positive and strong.

Thank you for all you do for our incredible community. I am so glad you are part of this family.

Yours truly, Brad

COVID-19 Update
We continue this week with a New Hampshire Stay at Home Order and Distance Learning for Schools, in effect until May 4.

Starting this week, I am tracking incidents of illness in the school community on a voluntary basis. If your child is ill, it would be helpful if you would “call in sick” by emailing me at Kathy.barth@crossroadsacademy.org. If you are willing, please share the symptoms that your child is experiencing. All health information is confidential and will not be shared. The information gathered from tracking will help us understand where we are with COVID when we get to the point of returning to school.

Recent studies on the Corona Virus show that people can have COVID and be asymptomatic, or can spread the illness before they start to show symptoms. For this reason, the CDC has approved the use of non-medical fabric face masks to be used as an additional voluntary measure in public areas where social distancing is hard to maintain, such as in the grocery store or pharmacy. Here is the CDC recommendation on face masks as well instructions for placement & removal, and regular washing handling of cloth face masks.

The same hygiene measures apply: don’t touch your face when removing the mask, remove mask from the ear straps, and place it in a bag, wash hands, wash mask every time it is used.

The COVID virus is still in the acceleration phase in New Hampshire, and as we see more cases in the Upper Valley, we will experience the most challenging phase of this crisis. We will begin to have friends who become ill, and it is likely you will know someone who is hospitalized. We encourage you to stay in touch with family and friends, particularly if you need support during these stressful weeks.

Transfer of Learning
At Crossroads, we think a lot about the transfer of learning. We want our students to use the knowledge and virtues they’ve studied and then apply them to new situations in productive ways, hopefully for the greater good.
