MATHCOUNTS Competition Results

The Crossroads MATHCOUNTS Team of Grace L.'24, Sunny '24, Anji '24 and Ellicott '23 traveled to Keene State College last Friday to compete with more than 50 top mathletes from the Upper Valley and Keene. The in-person Chapter competition was exciting, and our students worked hard and had a great time. Grace L earned second place (Individual), qualified for the Countdown Round, and will advance to the State level. Many thanks to parent Jia Lan for driving the mathletes and for serving as parent coordinator at the event. Please join us in congratulating each of our awesome mathletes!

Second Grade Animal Presentations

Last week, each second grade student presented on a South American animal that they have been researching this semester. Students were given a list of animals to choose from, and then were tasked to learn about their habitat, their physical features, their lifestyles, predators, and more! They created beautiful posters, and practiced their public speaking skills while presenting to their class and teachers. Classmates were encouraged to ask questions, and were excited to compare and contrast each other's animals.

Sixth Graders Study Newton's LawWith Eggs!

This semester, sixth graders have been studying Newton's Laws of Motion, and recently put their knowledge to the test. Students used their understanding of Newton's Laws to work in teams, by building a car that would carry an egg safely down a ramp and protect it as the car crashed into the wall. Students had to consider each of Newton's Laws as they made their designs, and then summarize how Newton's Laws factored into their cars' design and performance. The class had great success! Every single egg survived the crash due to their carefully-planned car designs, and understanding of Newton's three laws of motion!

We Love Crossroads!

This week, we will be gathering footage for a fun Valentine's tribute video for our amazing school. Your children will be sharing what they love about Crossroads. We invite you to do the same! It's so wonderful to share with the world how much our families value the education and community that Crossroads provides. If you feel inclined to send in a video, please keep your phone in the landscape position, and make sure you are in a quiet location. In addition to the Valentine's tribute video, we may use your testimonial on our Admissions page for prospective families. Please send your footage to Erin Drury and reach out to her with any questions.

Lost and Found

The Lost and Found piles in Klee, Fanger, and Bancroft are very full of winter gear and clothing. In order to clean up our spaces and return your children's items to their rightful owner, we urge you to look through the photos below and tell your child where they should pick up their items. All unclaimed items will be donated to the LISTEN Center during our February Break.
