April 3, 2023

This month's virtues are Self Control and Self Discipline. Self Control is stopping to think about my actions before I enact them. Self Discipline is giving the best of ourselves and saying, "no" to our weaknesses.

K-2 Performance Assembly

Join us this Thursday, April 6 at 8:30 a.m. to watch our kindergarten, first, and second graders in a performance assembly. Kindergarten will be performing the Gigantic Turnip skit, first graders will perform skits and poems describing human body systems, and the second graders will perform their insect show!

We Did It!

Last Friday, we achieved our goal of 25 gifts in 25 days to the Crossroads Fund. A huge thank you to those in our community that participated in this challenge and helped us reach our goal. With the additional $5,000 gift, we are happy to share that we have reached our goal of $170,000 raised for the Crossroads Fund this year.

We are not done yet, though! We are still trying to achieve 100% parent participation in the Crossroads Fund. Participation in the Crossroads Fund shows your commitment to the school, its teachers and staff, and to our children. Community participation is also a critical factor in determining qualification for grant support!

Our faculty and staff and the Board of Trustees have reached 100% participation. If you haven't done so already, please join us by making your gift today.

STEM Night: April 21

We are excited to invite you to Family STEM night on April 21 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. This will be a guided opportunity to work with your child(ren) to solve challenges, complete math problems, learn new science, and explore technology-linked ideas. There will be activities for grades K-8 and each activity will be marked with an ideal age range for participants. This event is designed for the whole family! Please come ready to work with your child(ren) as they learn and explore. Faculty and Middle School students will be assisting families with a range of activities, so we ask that you supervise your children during the event. Light snacks provided by CAPA. Come enjoy science, technology, engineering, and math-based learning and activities with your Crossroads children. We hope to see you there!

Save the Date: Thursday, April 27

Please join us for a community event on the evening of April 27 at 6:00 p.m., hosted by Megan Kendrick and Brian Murphy P'28,'29, at their home in Norwich, VT. This event will allow us to come together as a community and share our Crossroads experiences with newly enrolled and prospective families. We hope you'll bring a friend interested in learning more about our special school. This is a kid-friendly event. More details to follow in a more formal invitation! Please reach out to Katie Wardrop with any questions or to RSVP to the event.

Middle School Art Update

Also, don't forget to mark your calendar and plan to visit the Howe Library in Hanover to view Crossroads Academy K–8 student artwork being displayed during the month of April in the children and teen section of the library.
