This month's virtues are Self Control and Self Discipline. Self Control is stopping to think about my actions before I enact them. Self Discipline is giving the best of ourselves and saying, "no" to our weaknesses.

Crossroads Community Event: Next Thursday, April 27

You're invited to a Crossroads Academy community event on Thursday, April 27, at 6:00 p.m., hosted by Brian Murphy and Megan Kendrick P’28, ‘29 at their home in Norwich, VT.

Please join us for an evening of connection with fellow Crossroads families, newly enrolled families, and members of the greater community who are looking to learn more about Crossroads for their child(ren). We hope to see all of our Crossroads families in attendance. If you know someone who may be curious about our school

and would like to learn more, this is a great opportunity for them to meet our community and discover the Crossroads difference in an informal setting. Please email Katie Wardrop to RSVP.

Be an Ambassador for Crossroads!

Crossroads is seeking parent volunteers who would be willing to have their contact information shared with prospective families, to provide them the opportunity to have a conversation about the Crossroads experience with a current family. Your contact information and your student's grade level would be shared with interested families, so that they can select a family that can provide a similar perspective to what they are seeking. If you are open to connecting with these families, please email Katie Wardrop.

Sixth Graders Create their own Characters from Frankenstein

A recap from Mía Montas Antigua '25

Our class was assigned a project where we had to make a 3-D model of a character in The Story of Frankenstein. To make things more interesting, we had to embed some special symbols that relate to the character and what the character does in the book. We had so many interesting ideas, and we have many great artists in our class. We present to you . . . our sixth grade Frankenstein projects!

STEM Night: April 21

Don't forget to join us for our Family STEM night this Friday, April 21 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. This will be a guided opportunity to work with your child(ren) to solve challenges, complete math problems, learn new science, and explore technology-linked ideas. There will be activities for grades K-8 and each activity will be marked with an ideal age range for participants. This event is designed for the whole family! Please come ready to work with your child(ren) as they learn and explore. Faculty and Middle School students will be assisting families with a range of activities, so we ask that you supervise your children during the event. Light snacks provided by CAPA. Come enjoy science, technology, engineering, and math-based learning and activities with your Crossroads children. We hope to see you there!

Shakespeare Day: Friday, May 12

Next month, Crossroads students will participate in Elizabethan and acting games, watch performances of Midsummer Night's Dream (5th grade) and more. They will also sing songs from the Tempest or participate in a sonnet workshop, just to name a few! Performances will take place at the beginning and end of the school day. If you would like to come and watch, please stay tuned for more information!

Marcus Burns '22 Recites Poetry at the State House

Class of 2022 alum, Marcus Burns, was chosen to perform a poem at the State House in Montpelier, Vermont last week. Marcus was one of nine high school students chosen from a recent Poetry Out Loud competition this winter. Marcus chose to recite, Out, Out by Robert Frost, and is planning to recite it again at the Robert Frost celebration, "Earth is the Right Place for Love," on April 24, where many other Crossroads students, past and present, will be in attendance.
