I am an educator with over two decades of experience in independent schools and non-profit organizations in the United States and abroad. In each of these environments, I have devoted my professional life to expanding and refining students’ relationships to learning and their environment.
I began my teaching career as a faculty member at Miss Porter’s School in Farmington, Connecticut. I also served as an arts and humanities teacher and as an associate chaplain at St. Paul’s School in Concord, New Hampshire. I was the first Director of Education at the Rubin Museum of Art in New York City, a museum that specializes in Himalayan art and culture. I was next appointed as the Founding Director of Green School in Bali, Indonesia, a school devoted to sustainable practices in education. While in Bali, I was instrumental in developing a twenty-acre campus with over forty buildings made entirely from sustainable materials. I then served as the Head of School at Blue School, a school that focused on developing its students’ innate creativity through strong academic and artistic offerings. Prior to my position at Crossroads Academy, I was the Head of School at North Yarmouth Academy in Maine.
In conjunction with my work as an educator and administrator, I also bring a passion for experiential education, a practice to which I’ve been dedicated since 1995. For several years, I organized and led educational immersion programs for high school students and teachers in India, Nepal, and Tibet. I am also the co-founder of Global Learning Across Borders (Global LAB), a nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring the current generation of students to become responsible and committed global citizens.

I grew up in a suburb of Chicago and since then have lived in Michigan, London, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, California, New Mexico, and Vermont. I am married with two grown children. Prior to working at Crossroads, my professional background was in human resources.
I began at Crossroads as a parent and volunteer, then in 2001 I started working part-time as a Crossroads employee. I now work full-team as a member of the administration team. My position has evolved over the years and has a wide breadth. Currently its three main “umbrellas” are communications, development, and human resources support.
Crossroads has a mission that motivates me as an employee. It’s gratifying that my work supports a mission that relates to my beliefs and values. The Crossroads mission also fosters wonderful congeniality among the faculty and staff.

I have worked in education for twenty-eight years. My first twenty years were in a public high school guidance department, and then I moved to Crossroads Academy in 2007. I am very fortunate to have the opportunity to work in the field of education. I learn something new every day!
I am the Office Manager and Technology Support Coordinator. I am the first person you see when come into the office. My main responsibility is to the students and parents. I also work closely with staff and faculty on technology and educational software.
Crossroads is a wonderful place to work. Our families, students, faculty, and staff are so dedicated and supportive of our school. I love the enthusiasm, respect, and positive energy I feel from the entire Crossroads community!

My passion for learning, in and outside of the classroom, and strong value for community have been fostered within independent school communities beginning when I was young. I grew up attending parochial schools and passionately competing in sports in Columbus, OH. From there I earned a BA in psychology, minor in speech, and an oral communications certificate from Marietta College. Additionally, I had the opportunity to compete collegiately in both basketball and crew at Marietta.
My professional career has been one solidly grounded in recruitment and enrollment with over ten years of experience within college enrollment management and an additional five years of experience within college preparatory boarding schools. I began traditionally with an admissions counselor role and progressed over the years into more strategic roles within enrollment management. I have supported a variety of colleges and universities throughout the country and have loved learning new schools, assisting in tackling their unique challenges, and helping them achieve their enrollment goals. Most recently, I worked with the Office of Admission at Kimball Union Academy implementing and managing a new enrollment management system, in addition to assisting with recruitment efforts.
My broad experience in enrollment management provides me a unique perspective and strength in the fundamentals of recruitment, strategic planning, and systems that I am excited to bring to Crossroads Academy. I believe enrollment should be done from a place of education, demonstration of value, and high level of interpersonal communication. I am a parent to two boys at Crossroads and am eager to now contribute not only as a parent, but also professionally.

I was born in 1952 and raised on a dairy farm in the Town of Fairlee, Vermont. I have four siblings that still live in the local area. I attended Fairlee Elementary School and graduated from Bradford Academy in 1970. I worked in the carpentry trade after high school and before entering the Army in 1977. In 1981, I returned home and starting working for the Vermont Agency of Transportation. I was also employed by Vermont Fish & Wildlife as a Deputy Game Warden for fourteen years. I retired in 2011 as the Police Chief in Bradford, Vermont, after twenty-five years of service. When we are not here at Crossroads, my wife Marjorie and I manage a mini-farm in the Town of Newbury, Vermont.

I am excited to join the Crossroads buildings and grounds staff. I graduated from St. Michael’s College in Vermont with majors in food policy and political science. I have experience and passion for organic vegetable farming and taking care of the land. For eight months, I joined a food security project with Peace Corps in Nepal and look forward to bringing what I learned to Crossroads.

I grew up the youngest of six children in rural Ohio on a dairy farm, but in my adulthood I have lived in Kansas, Indiana, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and New Hampshire. I am married with two teenage children who both attended Crossroads Academy. I have had the pleasure of working in schools for twenty-five years, with eighteen of those years being a first grade teacher.
My family moved to the Upper Valley ten years ago, and I began at Crossroads as a parent in the winter of 2006. I began as a teacher here in the fall of 2007 and transitioned to the administrative team as Director of Enrollment in July 2015. It felt like a natural transition to move to administration after having ten years of experience at Crossroads as a parent and teacher. I love this school, and it is a joy and pleasure to share it with new families; in fact, it’s the favorite part of my job! The unique Core Knowledge Program and our excellent teachers make this a wonderful place to educate children. It is a gift to work with like-minded professionals who are committed to providing a balanced approach to education to the next generation of students while focusing on the Crossroads motto “Strong Minds, Kind Hearts.”

I have over thirty years of experience in accounting, auditing, and business management for both profit making entities and nonprofit organizations. I am proficient in Excel, Word, QuickBooks, and other software packages, have taught classes at the Community College of Vermont, and have trained clients in QuickBooks.
I administer the ins and outs of a $2.3 million budget, serve as a member of the administrative team and the Financial Aid Committee, oversee the Manager of Buildings & Grounds, handle risk management, and administer employment contracts/benefits.
I really like the sense of teamwork that we have at Crossroads, the mission-driven support that we offer each other, and the rich blend of talents, skills, and experiences that we all share when problem-solving.
