June: Loyalty

Loyalty is being faithful and true to our duties, relations, and ideals.

Story time with Mrs. Robbie

Head's Note
An old adage goes, "The days are long and the years are short." I believe this is particularly true when you are a parent or a teacher. And my, this year did fly by! It seems not that long ago, the eighth graders were hoisting up our kindergarteners to help them ring our school's bell. And now that it is the day before graduation, it will soon be ringing again.

And as I look back on the previous school year, I am grateful for all of its qualities, its length, and its fullness. Faculty, staff, trustees, parents, and most of all, our students have made each day so rewarding through sharing their discoveries and inviting us to learn along with them.

This learning will continue in the summer, too, but perhaps through different forms: a good book in a park or by a lake; gardening in the backyard; long walks in the woods; relaxing over a good meal with family and friends. In whatever ways you choose to be this summer, I hope you enjoy the lengthening days and the fullness of the season. And I look forward to welcoming you back and sharing the sound of the bell with you again in the fall.

-Yours truly, Brad

Admissions Office News
Greetings from the Admissions Office! I want to thank you all for your warm support this year as I embarked on this journey as the new Director of Enrollment. It's been a busy and fun year diving into the work of admissions. What a pleasure it has been to meet so many new families and to share with them about Crossroads!

I want to also thank you for being great ambassadors for Crossroads throughout the year and for helping to bring in many new families to this community. We are truly blessed to be surrounded by caring, thoughtful, kind, and gracious kids and adults alike here at Crossroads. I look forward to joining each of you, along with the new families, next year as we continue to build our extraordinary community.

Wishing you all a wonderful summer! -Warmly, Marilyn

Crossroads Places Fifth in the National Mathleague.org Competition

This weekend, the team of Audrey Lewellen (fifth grade), Maxine Park (sixth grade), Roxane Park (third grade), and Saia Patel (sixth grade) traveled to Houston, TX, for the National Mathleague.org Competition. The team placed fifth overall in the sixth grade division based on their individual scores and their performance on the team test. They are the only all-girls team ever to place at the national level, and they received the highest score on the team test out of all 112 teams at the national competition as the only team that scored a 90 out of 100 on the team test.

As individuals, Roxane placed third for third grade, and Maxine placed third for sixth grade. Roxane was the highest scoring girl in third grade, and Maxine was the highest scoring girl in the overall competition.

Congratulations to these students for all of their hard work and to all of the children in math club for an amazing season. And thank you to Alison Gorman, Wayne Chin, and Daryl DeFord for all of their work with the students this year.

Fast Forward Day

Summer is Almost Here...Please Join Us for a Great Summer at Crossroads!

Signs of spring have us looking forward to summer! Any given week this summer, we can expect to see kids exploring the stream, scaling the climbing wall, conducting scientific research, or producing art in the outdoors. We have nearly two hundred total enrollments and at least ten different programs will be offered. Though many programs are full, we still have spaces available in late July and August and in select programs in June. If you haven't enrolled yet, join us! A full calendar and links to register are available  here . Any questions? Contact Clare Smith, Summer Program Coordinator, at  summer@crossroadsacademy.org
